Passport gives you the choice to access your inventory management database any which way you want from anywhere in the world.
You can access your database securely through your VPN or intranet from any location. However, if you want to access it through the internet you can open a port on your server and a small client download will allow you to publish whatever database views you want on the internet - customer views, reports, or public inventory listings.
